Fishing in its infancy was a means for man to obtain food. Fishing hooks made from the toe bone of a bison or deer were discovered here in Iowa at locations where communities existed between 900 and 1400 AD. Over the years fishing has changed from a means to survive to a recreational opportunity that we Iowans can enjoy year round.
In all quadrants of the state Iowa offers fishing opportunities in its interior and exterior rivers, natural and man made lakes and the numerous farm ponds that are scattered throughout Iowa. With a 148 different fish species within the state, anglers have the opportunity to chase their favorite game fish close to home.
Our goal within this website is to provide our members with valuable information and video tips to maximize your day on the water.
